RealeSeller (FAQ) Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there an install guide for RealeSeller?
  • If I have a problem before I purchase a program, how do I get help?
Email support is free to everyone.  Phone support is free during the trial period.  After purchase, 6 months of free tech support, after that it is $100 per year. It is possible that a problem you are having may need to be solved with a phone call.  In that case someone in support may authorize a technician to accept a phone call without a valid service contract.  We will try our very best to solve any problem we can that is related to any of our software.  We do not want to save money by shipping these technical phone support jobs overseas because we don't feel that proper support can be given by people not familiar with the real estate business here in the US.  Keeping these jobs here does mean we have had to form some basic rules to follow that help us save on these costs.

  • How do I set or change default information in RealeSeller?
The default information for RealeSeller is located in the same place many of the Outlook default settings are located.  In the top area of Outlook is a Tools selection, choose that, then select Options...
Complete information about this selection can be found here:  Options Menu Help

  • Why do I keep getting prompted to backup Outlook?
When you install RealeSeller, we make sure that your data is automatically safeguarded by installing a backup program.  This is a Microsoft product that is available for download and we feel should be installed as a part of Office.  How much data can you afford to lose?  One day, two days, maybe three?  It is our opinion you should back up your data at least once every week so that you never lose more than one week of data at the most.  For some, this may not be much, but for many, a lot of time would be wasted if something happened and the Outlook file was lost.  The default setting is to prompt for a backup every 7 days.  This should be done at the very least.  We suggest you set it for daily if you enter a lot of data every day.  You can change this setting, or even turn it off if you choose, by going to File, Backup...  When the Outlook Personal Folders Backup window is displayed, choose Options...  Next, select the number of days between prompts for backups.  At this point you can also uncheck the Reminder check box if you don't want to use this feature.  You can also put the file on any folder, on any drive, even the network if you like.  It is best if it isn't on the same hard drive as Outlook runs on.  But, if that is the only choice you have, it is better than no choice.  Press OK when you finish.  Now, if the Reminder box was checked, every so often you will be prompted to back up your data when you close Outlook.  You can manually force a backup any time you want by selecting the same menu items and choosing Save Backup.

  • What is the RealeSeller folder used for?
When you use RealeSeller almost everything created is based on your Agent information and your Company information.  Your registration key is based on 3 things, your computer, your name, and the company name.  When you print reports, or make flyers, information is taken from both Agent information and Company information.  More details can be found here:  The Company View

  • I have two computers, how does that work?
When you purchase RealeSeller, you get 1 key.  Each key generated is unique to each computer.  Using the Company Name, the Agent Name, and the Computer ID, a key is generated that only works on one computer.  When ordering a key, this information must be exact and can't be changed.  Extra keys for more installations on different computers under the same Agent and Company Name are $100 each.

  • There are 5 Agents in our office and only one computer.  Can we all use the same RealeSeller program?
Yes you can.  Some offices use a central computer and everyone uses it.  We have the ability to generate a key for each agent so every agent who logs on the computer can generate print outs like Calculations, Flyer's or CMA's with their own name, picture, and logo on them.  This kind of install is a special price, so call and find out more about it.  Ask for the Multi-Agent package.

  • What is the RealeSeller Agent view used for?

  • I started Outlook by clicking my Outlook icon and RealeSeller did not work, it does usually. Why?
This is a combination of an Outlook and Windows issue.  There is a cache folder where special forms are saved that speeds the loading of Outlook.  Sometimes the items in the cache become corrupted for reasons unknown.  If you start Outlook with the RealeSeller icon, you should never see this as we make sure corrupted items are deleted.

  • When I started Outlook it asked me if I wanted to turn off RealeSeller?
This happens sometimes if Outlook crashes or is shut down improperly due to something like a power outage.  Just say "No" and let Outlook/RealeSeller start normally.  If you answer "Yes" and turn RealeSeller off, you will have to close and restart Outlook using the RealeSeller icon to start Outlook.  Everything should be back to normal at that point.

  • How do I use the RealeSeller Image Viewer?
RealeSeller has an image viewer associated with the Company, Agent, User, Prospect, and Property items.  You can keep as many images as you want that are associated with any company, individual or property.  They can be used by RealeSeller itself, or add-on software.  Detailed information about the image viewer can be found here:  RealeSeller Image Viewer

  • I have Respond installed. Prospect and Property windows I open flash and act weird.  What's up?
Respond version 1.0 is not integrated into Outlook like RealeSeller. It is trying to close our window and display their prospect window.  This will happen with any RealeSeller Prospect, Property, Company, User, or Agent window you try and open this way.  You can choose to ignore the issue or turn Respond off.

  • A window pops up saying a program is trying to access my e-mail addresses.  What's going on?
This issue is a little complex and it involves a security feature Microsoft added to Outlook.  This pop-up message box is something Microsoft added in a service pack starting with Outlook 2000.  It has never really solved the real issue, namely stopping a trojan email virus using your email addresses to spread itself to everyone you know.  Eventually we expect to see these windows go completely away, but they will probably always exist in the older versions of Outlook.  You should not see this issue in RealeSeller.

  • How do I import Top Producer 7i® contacts and properties into RealeSeller?
Importing your Top Producer 7i® contacts involves a couple of steps, none of which is very complicated.  First, log in to your Top Producer 7i account.  Next select Setup, then Data transfer / conversion, then choose Export data...  Next choose Export all contacts and press the Next button at the bottom of the screen.  Next choose Export all columns and press the Start export button.  At this point a Window will open and you need to choose a place to put your contact information.  The default name of the file is contacts.csv and there is no real reason to change it.  Choose a folder and press the Save button.  You can save it to the default position on your desktop and that will work just fine also.  Wait for the file to finish saving.  Depending on the number of contacts and your connection speed, the time required to do this will vary.  If you have many 100's or 1000's of contacts and properties, and you do not have a broadband connection, it might be a good idea to ask someone you know with a fast connection if you can use their computer to log on and do this.  You can also contact Top Producer® support and ask them to send you a copy of your data.  They might charge you to do this, so be prepared for that.  Doing it this way costs you nothing.  Once the process completes, log off and close the window.  Next, start RealeSeller (Outlook).  Next, go to File and select RealeSeller Import, CSV Import.  The RealeSeller CSV import window will be displayed.  Importing Top Producer 7i® information is a two step process.  First, select Top Producer 7i® Contacts from the available list.  Now, press the Next button.  Next a new window will be displayed RealeSeller Import Wizard.  Press the Load File To Import button.  Now use the browse window to locate your contacts.csv file.  Once located, select the file and press the Open button.  The import wizard will load the file.  Depending on the size of the file, this might take a little time.  Once the Start Import button is enabled, press it.  A progress window will be shown while your contacts are being imported.  Once it is finished, close the wizard window using the 'X' button in the top left corner of the wizard.  This brings you back to the RealeSeller Import window.  This time, select Top Producer 7i® Property, then press the Next button.  Follow the exact same steps to import your properties.  After the process finishes, close the wizard window and the import window.  Selecting Prospects or Properties will display all of your imported information and you can now use it inside RealeSeller.

  • How do I start Outlook without starting RealeSeller?
If for some reason you want to start Outlook and not have RealeSeller activate, press and hold the Control key (Ctrl) while you double click the RealeSeller icon.  A message box will appear with some Startup Option selections.  You can choose Turn on RealeSeller or Turn off RealeSeller.  If you turn RealeSeller off, the next time you start Outlook using the RealeSeller icon, it will be turned back on automatically.  If after turning it off, you continue to start Outlook with the Outlook icon, RealeSeller will remain turned off.

  • Something happened to my toolbars in Outlook.  What can I do to fix them?
Sometimes Outlook loses track of what toolbars should be showing when certain windows are open, and that includes RealeSeller toolbars.  If this happens, close Outlook.  Restart Outlook using the RealeSeller icon and holding the Control key down at the same time.  When the Startup Options window appears, put a check in the box next to Reset Outlook Shortcut Bar shortcuts and press the Ok button.  The toolbars should be back to normal.

  • Are RealeSeller updates Free?
All minor updates, revisions, and service packs are free.  Major updates will not usually be free, but you will not have to pay some outrageous fee either.  Usually you can expect to pay about 50% of the actual cost of the newest major revision when you upgrade.  Since we are constantly trying to improve the program with added features and superior methods of doing things, this does cost money to develop.  While we would like to offer all upgrades for free, it just isn't possible.  The major upgrade cost includes 6 months of telephone support.  As long as at least 1 product has telephone support left on it, all of your products are covered.  You can buy additional telephone support at $50 per year at any time.  This also covers all RealeSeller products you own.

  • How do I submit suggestions?
The best place to submit suggestions is the forum we have set up on the RealeSeller web site.  There are places for everything, even suggestions for the web site itself.  There you can share your ideas not only with us, but other RealeSeller users.

  • Where do I report problems or issues?
As with suggestions, probably the best place to submit an issue is email.  You might be surprised to find that most issues or problems can be fixed immediately.  Just send an email to support@realeseller.com.  All products come with 6 months of free telephone support.

  • Will I be notified of updates to RealeSeller?
RealeSeller has the ability to check for updates.  If you have an internet connection when you start Outlook and RealeSeller is active, it will check to see if an update is available and let you know if there is one.  You can of course visit the site and check to see if anything new is going on.  Any time a serious issue is resolved, everyone will be notified by email when an update is posted.

  • Can I make more Prospect and Property folders?
You can make a new RealePlan folder, Prospect folder, or a Property folder only. CMA, Calculations, Agents, Users, and Company folders can't be copied.  You create new RealeSeller folders exactly the same way you create new Outlook folders.  Choose, File, New, and Folder... then choose where you want the folder to be created.

  • How do I add and remove fields in the prospect and properties list?
Everyone has different needs, so you can change the fields by right-clicking the field names bar and selecting Show Fields... Select the fields you want to add from the left side and move them to the right.  Move the fields you don't want displayed from the right side to the left.  You can put them in the order you want by selecting a field name and using the up and down arrows to put it in the position you want it in.  The top most item in the list is the first field on the left.  The rest of the fields are displayed to its right in the order they occur in the list.  Press Ok when you finish.

  • How do I sort the prospects and properties?
The easiest way is to simply left click a field name on the top bar of the list.  A triangle icon will display point up or pointing down.  When icon points up, the list will be sorted from A to Z or 0 to 9 etc.  When it points down, the list will be sorted from Z to A or 9 to 0.  This is a very fast and simple method to choose the field and sort at the same time.

  • How do I use the Quick Find function in the Prospect and Properties list?
First, the Quick Find drop down combo box located at the top of the list contains the names of all the fields by which you can sort.  The sort list will only contain the fields you have chosen to display.  The current field being used will be displayed in the text area of the combo box.  If you want to find something quickly, just start typing.  The item selector will move as you type and will try and find the closest match to what you type as you type it.  This is a very fast way to locate a specific prospect or property.

  • How do I show only items I am interested in in my Prospect and Properties list?
The two combo boxes at the bottom of the list will normally display <None>.  You can choose to use either filter, it doesn't matter.  There are two filters currently available so you can filter by two parameters.  For instance, if you are looking at the properties list and you want all properties listed in a certain city, select City in the combo box list.  Next, type the name of the city (capitals are not necessary).  You don't even have to type the whole city name, just part of it if you want. Press the Enter key when you finish typing.  The list of properties will now contain only those that have the city name you typed.  To narrow it even further, go to the second combo box list and select Zip.  Press the Enter key when you finish typing the zip code.  Now the list has narrowed even further to that city and that zip code.  You can also filter by a category or a property status, etc.  This is a very, very powerful feature when you are wanting to display only items you are looking for in a very narrow category.  That category is only limited by the number of fields in the list of items in the filter.  As you will notice, it includes just about everything.

  • I have questions about Microsoft Office programs other than Outlook.  How can I get help?
We don't directly support Microsoft Office programs other than Outlook issues related to RealeSeller.

  • How do I set a category name on more than one item at a time?
Select the prospects or properties you want to add a category name to.  Once you have them all selected, right click one of the selected items.  Select Categories... in the pop-up window.  Put a check in the items you want to add as categories or remove a check from items already selected as categories.  Press Ok when you finish.

  • I do not want to be reminded about the birthday's of my client's children.  How do I turn that off?
As of version 2.5 just don't put a check in the box next to the child's name.  If you want to keep track of the birthday, then you will have to turn off the  option on the series reminder.  This is the master that controls all related recurring events.  To change this, go to the Prospect Activities tab and set the Show: feature to All Items.  The birthday should show up in this list.  Double click the item to show the series reminder window, then uncheck the Reminder checkbox located next to the bell icon.  Save and close the window.  This does not remove the item from your calendar, it just turns off the pop-up reminder.

  • Can I sell my copy of RealeSeller to another Agent?
The simple answer is no.  The reason is, you never own the software.  You are buying a license to use the product only.  You can of course give a copy of the software to anyone which they can install and use for 15 Days to make sure it is what they would like to use and when they are ready, they can then purchase their own license to use the software.

  • How do I change the Company information?
Since the key you are given to activate RealeSeller is based on a combination of a Computer ID, the Agent Name, and the Company Name, you will have to call or email us to get a new key based on a change in Company Name.  There will be a $25 service charge to do this since someone will have to do this manually.  This change covers all of your installs and applies to that major version only.  Remember, free phone service requires you to either be under the service period on at least one of our products or have an extended service contract in force, otherwise you will need to do this using email.

  • How do I print Agent, Company, Prospect or Property information?
RealeSeller has a special print view if you need to print this information.  There is also a secondary method via Outlook that can be used to print in several of the standard view formats.  Some Detailed information about both of these printing methods can be found here: Printing RealeSeller™ Details
