In 1978 I purchased my first computer, a TRS-80 Model I.  I paid about $400 plus tax for it.  There wasn't much to it, but it had a whopping 4K of memory and a black and white monitor. There was no floppy drive, let alone a hard drive.  All programs and data were on cassette tapes.  Very unreliable, but it worked most of the time.  I learned to program on that computer by teaching myself BASIC.  I bought a communications program for $29.95 because I wanted to connect to two local main frames at the University of North Texas in Denton.  Well, to make a long story short, the program didn't work, not even a little bit.  No refunds either and I was a poor college student working 3 jobs.  That $30 was a lot of money.  Completely frustrated, I decided I was going to write my own program.  Born in my frustration was Double Density Software.  I spent the next couple of years learning to program in BASIC, Assembler, C, and Pascal.  Around 1980 I bought a TRS-80 Color Computer, another Radio Shack product, and launched my first advertising campaign near the end of 1982.  The local Radio Shack store had been selling my programs, but it was time to really open the doors and go national.  With a few hundred dollars and some help from my wife in the design and layout of our first magazine ad, we sent off our hard earned money and bought 3 months of advertising.  Well, needless to say, we made money the first month, moved up to a full page, and ended up with two full page color ads.  Double Density Software went up like a rocket.
This company has been around pretty much since the beginning of the computer revolution.  The reason I'm telling this little story is to let you know that while the company is new to the Real Estate software world, we are by no means a "Johnny-come-lately" to the world of software.  I am no stranger to the real estate software business either.  I also worked for 3 years with one of the real estate software pioneers here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  I hold a Professional Inspectors License in the State of Texas and my wife has been in the real estate business for years.  We speak real estate around here. All that, and we have been around longer than just about any software company out there.  One of the reasons this company has out-lived many others is we will sell no software before it is ready to be sold.  You will never see us advertising products that don't exist.  There is no "vaporware" here.  If you see a product posted here, and it says "Coming Soon" ... it will have the month it will be released, and I can assure you that the product is in the final testing stages.  We rarely even talk about what we are doing because we may decide not to even release a product because it can not be made to perform to our satisfaction.  As the driving force behind this company, I will not allow some unstable piece of junk to have the company name on it.  It will be solid, or it won't be sold.  Many companies can't tolerate a long period of development... this company can.  While no program is perfect, if you purchase any of our programs, you will notice a difference between us and  them.   We have used  a  combination  of  old

tried and true methods combined with some of the new ones.  We throw away what doesn't work, old or new, and stick with what does work, and what works fast.  Too many people tolerate slow moving software.  Our software will run as fast, or faster than Outlook runs on your computer.  Our sorting, finding, and filtering routines work faster than the routines in Outlook itself.  I'm not just bragging, it is a fact.  While I no longer write every line of code, I do look at every part of it, and I test it myself to make sure it performs the way it should.  I am the "acid test" around here.  Nothing goes out until I have seen it.  Period, no excuses, and I take responsibility for every piece of software this company develops.  I look at software with 30 years of experience.  I think you will see this difference in our design, layout, and ease of use.  Please don't get the idea that all of this isn't a team effort either... it is.  Everyone who works here knows their opinion and input is valuable.  Everyone makes mistakes and those that don't admit that are just fooling themselves.  A team working together will rarely miss an error or a problem, that makes us stronger as a company.
The people working at Double Density Software have the same commitment to quality and service as I do.  It seems like companies today take advantage of their clients.  I promise you we have never done that, and we never will.  We want to help you become as successful as you can be.  Technology, both hardware and software, can make a huge difference in how successful you are as a real estate agent.  Those agents who have not moved into the 21st century are doomed to extinction.  Using software technology that is 10 to 15 years old is foolish.  Some of the software currently for sale is based on old ideas and old technology, and that's why it isn't easy to use, and it is slow.  You as an agent should spend a little money to make sure you have a system that isn't more than a couple of years old.  Some of the older computers can't even run some of the latest software.  You don't need the latest and most expensive hardware available, but a 5 or 10 year old computer should probably be replaced.  You have no idea what you are missing.

If you ever have any problems or just questions, give us a call.  Someone here will be more than happy to answer your questions and do all they can to help you.  Does anyone remember the saying "The Client is always right" ... we do, and we will do our very best to make you feel that way.  Double Density Software has many thousands of happy clients.  We hope you will join this group of people we have been serving for over 29 years.
